A message to my wonderful students and supportive parents…
I hope everyone had a beautiful Easter and a super Spring break. There are many things to share with you all for this upcoming week. A few days ago, my grandfather was admitted to the hospital and is under Dr. Supervision. Due to this family emergency, I will not be at school Monday the 16th or Tuesday the 17th. I will return on Wednesday for our fun and wonderful trip to Coloma. I know the children are super excited and can’t wait to go. For the two days at school, our focus will be to continue working on our YAF books. Don’t worry about binding the books because I will do this with the kids when we return from Coloma. Parents, please help your child pack for our trip by following the “packing” list in their yellow handbook. They should have everything they need for their first day in their backpacks, including a lunch and water bottles. Also, if you have not yet written your letter to your child please do so and you may turn it in or give it to me on Wednesday morning. If your child is bringing any medications, please place them in a ziplock bag clearly marked with their name and give to me Wednesday morning. Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and good wishes. If you have any individual questions, please email me and I will do my best to answer your question.
God Bless,
Mrs. Harris
YAF (Young Author’s Fair): Over the next week, please help your child work on their books. The students are working on different things. However, all students should be done writing. Most children are typing up their story and saving it on their USB flashdrive. They will need you to edit all mistakes. This way when they return to school, I can help them separate their story into pages. If you feel comfortable, you may do this part with your child. They all should have created their cover page. In class on Monday the 16th we will create our title page with copyright information. Only then, will all the writing be done and then students will be ready to illustrate. No students should be drawing except for maybe three. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.
YELLOW FOLDERS/MISSING WORK: Due to many contributing factors, the yellow folders have not yet been sent home. They will go home when the children return to school. However, the cutoff for the 3rd trimester progress reports is Friday, April 20th. We will be in Coloma and so to help the students, today I sent home a current list of missing assignments. They should have all materials needed to complete their work. In addition, parents can always check the student planners for my initials of missing assignments. By Friday the 20th, the children need at least nine AR points, which is half of the required eighteen.
I wish everyone a very Blessed Easter and wonderful Spring break!
